Overview

Institute of Education, a unit of Visva-Bharati University was founded in the year 1948, as a training centre for Art & Craft and Music teachers. The institute is well-recognized by University Grants Commission. It offers various academic programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels in fields like Education and Physical Education. The principal motive of the institute is to train aspiring future teachers for the secondary schools who are dedicated to the cause of education in all its various aspects. The institute has adopted Tagore’s amalgamated system of education which promotes propagating knowledge, cultural sensitivity and service which can easily be provided to a diverse mix of communities that greatly vary from each other.
