Overview

Besides teaching, research & extension the three functions of University system as mandated by UGC, the Department's strength lies in its vertical and horizontal mobility in achieving Inter and Intra Development activities in Teaching, Research and Extension. Outreach programmes conducted to raise the Human Development Index of the community through appropriate intervention programmes and networking with the governmental and / community based organizations. Hence, the character of the Department is non-traditional in functioning in this 151 year old University that has provided leadership to develop many University Department of Adult and Continuing Education in the Nation.

Extension is the back bone of the DACE and it needs special mention and attention as it involves extension laboratory type of activities: the nucleus of Extension is Training and Development both for functionaries as well as beneficiaries. The very philosophy of Extension is to help Master Trainer and other field functionaries to conceptualize theory and practice,leading to Human Resource Development at Field Level.
