Overview
Established in 1976, the department offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes, and from its inception, 31 students were awarded Ph.D. degree and 167 were awarded M.Phil. degree. Resolved to profess sociological perspective and with receptivity to change and transformation, the Department has a vision to be an active partner in the development of this region through research partnerships with private businesses corporations, government agencies, and social and community service organizations. The pursuit, analysis and dissemination of sociological knowledge for social good continue to be the mission. The curricula of the department also aims at providing expert training to promote more effective delivery in public and private human service organizations. With faculty at the discipline cutting edge, we seek to develop the next generation of sociologists.
