Overview

Established in 1964 as a Department of Pharmacy at Kashmiri Gate Polytechnic, The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DISPAR) is a part of the Directorate of Training and Technical Education. Later in 1972, the department was shifted to the PUSA institute, New Delhi and then in 1979, it was shifted to its present day location at Pushp Vihar. The college today has a beautiful, lush green campus of 10.5 acres. DIPSAR is emerging as the first Pharmacy University of India, a full-fledged Centre of Excellence that has been producing some of the best Pharmaceutical Scientists of the nation. Major focus areas for research in the institute are diabetes and its complications and drugs used for its treatment. Several articles in this area have been published in numerous reputed journals. Other thrust areas where the research is being conducted are bio-availability, enhancement of poorly soluble and poorly permeable drugs using various pharmaceutical technologies and novel drug delivery systems, synthesis of heterocyclic compounds for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities. Numerous research-based courses in Pharmacy are offered at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. Recently, there was a record number of fifteen Ph.D thesis submissions and three people were awarded ph.D degree by University of Delhi. The college promises an extremely rewarding an satisfying experience among the scholarly faculty and the like-minded students.
