Overview

Established in 1984, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Jamia Milia Islamia initially had just four departments, namely- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geography. Later in 1987, the department of Biosciences was added followed by the department of Computer Science in the year 1999 and the department of Biotechnology in 2008. Hence, the Faculty of Natural Sciences today has 7 departments in total that offers several undergraduate, post graduate and PG Diploma courses. Ph.D programmes are also available for students to pursue in every sphere of Science. Almost all the courses are offered through the various departments of the Faculty except for the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc with Instrumentation) which come under the direct administration of the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences. Growth and overall development of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences, Centre for Theoretical Physics, Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and Centre for Nanotechnology is wholly supervised by the Faculty. The institute is well recognised for its highly qualified teaching staff of national and international repute. They play the role of constant motivators in the lives of the students. Their prime objective is to ensure that every student goes beyond their limits to achieve much more than they'd expected.
