In 1899 more than a century ago, Hindu College was founded by Late Shri Krishan Dassji Gurwale. During the Nationalist struggle against the British rule, many prominent citizens including Shri Gurwaleji of Delhi felt a need to start a college that wouldn't discriminate based on caste and ethnicity and provide nationalist education to the youth while being non-elitist and non-sectarian. The college was initially housed in a small building in Kinari Bazaar, Chandni Chowk and since there was no Delhi University at that time, Hindu college was affiliated to the Punjab University. Over the years, the college kept growing and due to inadequate infrastructure, faced a major crisis in 1902. That is when Rai Bahadur Sultan Singh donated a part of his historic property (originally belonged to Col. Skinner) out of generosity, thereby giving the college a place to function until 1953, post which it was shifted to its current location at Delhi University's North Campus.

Read full reviewHindu College is one of the most prestigious colleges in Delhi University. As per my experience, it lives up to its reputation. It is located in North Campus and the campus life is unmatched. Hindu College's amazing alumnae include Arnab Goswami, Subramanian Swamy and Imtiaz Ali among others. The unique thing about Hindu College is the College Parliament system. The election season is very exciting for anyone interested in politics.
Each year Hindu College has one of the highest cut offs. The quality of education is good and the value for money (the fees are nominal) is assured if the student is willing to work. The faculty is good as well.
The best thing about Hindu College is the diverse crowd. Apply here if you want to enjoy your college life, have fun and receive a quality education at the same time.
