Overview

The institute was established in 1998 as the first constituent college of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). As a pioneer technical university for women in India, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women facilitates and encourages research, studies, technology, innovation, incubation and extension work in upcoming areas of professional education among women, with major emphasis on engineering, technology, applied sciences and management. The college aims to promote female technical education in India and further, achieve excellence in the field. <br />

In May 2013, the name of the institution was changed to Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women (IGDTUW) before which it was known as Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT). <br />

The transformation of an already prestigious and reputed college, IGIT to a university enabled the institution to work in an even more efficient manner as a teaching and research institute. The university promotes technological advancement and imparts knowledge and learning among a wide range of women of the country so as to meet the requirements of the technically skilled women workforce. The university's prime objective is to empower the women of our country and make them employable, self reliant, responsible and socially aware citizens of the society by imparting quality education which includes the industry relevant innovative research.
