The Institute of Archaeology is the Academic Wing of the Archaeological Survey of India situated at Janpath, New Delhi. The Institute of Archaeology was established in the year 1985, by upgrading the School of Archaeology which was set up in 1959 for imparting advanced training in multidisciplinary field of Archaeology, Epigraphy, Numismatics, Museology, Conservation, Antiquarian law, etc. It conducts two years Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology programme. Guest lectures are organized by the faculty department of the Institute and the country's eminent archaeologists. The Institute has conducted academic workshops and seminars, time and again, besides inviting distinguished scholars to deliver special lectures.
