Overview

Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences was founded in 2009 as an autonomous institute, by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It is also approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). It is located in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The mission of the Institute is to grow into a dedicated international center of excellence for the diagnosis, advanced training, research and management in the specified fields of liver and biliary diseases. The institute offers various courses in the fields of Medicine and Surgery at postgraduate masters and postgraduate doctorate levels, such as M.D. Organ Transplant Anaesthesia & Critical Care, M.Ch. Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, etc. ILBS was constructed in two phases, out of which the first phase is already functional having 180 hospital beds, 74 of which cater as intensive care (ICU) beds. The second phase was operational by 2012 having multi-storey research complex, guest-house, hepato-biliary oncology unit, auditorium and additional beds. The institution is a deemed university and strives to become an excellent model for the academic career both for the national and international students and the faculty members.
