Overview

Lady Hardinge College was found in 1916 by Lady Hardinge of Penhurst, the wife of the then Viceroy of India, so as to overcome the orthodox and primitive trends of the contemporary India, amongst the parents’ minds against educating their daughters in co-educational Colleges. In 1950, became a part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi. Located in the heart of Delhi, Cannaught Place, Lady Hardinge Medical College is an All Girls Medical college associated with hospitals like Smt. Sucheta Kriplani hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and Kalavati Saran Children's hospital. The college is affiliated to University of Delhi. Every year 200 girls get the opportunity to be a part of the MBBS course of this college through All India PMT exams. Post graduate seats are available for both men and women in numerous medical specialities. The college comes under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and the faculty is appointed through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The college provides an intense, interactive and healthy environment that tends to push the students beyond their limits so that they can achieve the greatest heights in life. Several events, workshops, excursion tours and festivals are organised by the college.
