Overview

Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing (RAKCON) was established in 1946, a pioneer institute for Nursing education in India and South East Asia, with an initial B.Sc (H) course that began so as to get young women to become professional nurses in order to support the health care needs of India. After few years in 1959, a 2 year Masters of Nursing course was initiated that was further followed by the M.Phil in Nursing in the year 1986 which was a pre-requisite in order to begin working on the doctoral degree started in 1992. The college is affiliated to the University of Delhi and is fully funded by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It provides a wide range of options in the field of Nursing education- at both basic and advanced levels. Students can further find employment in various areas of Health Care setting, thereby marking their presence by their contribution in varied branches of nursing such as promotion of health, care during illness, prevention of disease and maintenance of positive health. The college's prime motive is to develop highly qualified and responsible nurses that can shape the scientific health care system.
