Overview

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established in 1985, has been unceasingly strive to build a knowledgeable society by imparting inclusive education. School Of Gender and Development Studies (SOGDS), established in 2007, has an aim to achieve gender equality and justice via launching appropriate academic programs, training sessions and different courses. The school inspects the prevailing gender gap and deal with the issue of gender inequality by striving to strengthen individual as well as institutional efforts which enables women empowerment. SODGS examines and promotes cultural, social, human and economic development. The school has designed and developed programs for graduate, post graduate and doctoral levels. The key areas which were given importance to in formulating curriculum are science, gender, women, development, agriculture, law and policy. Two major programs are Gender and Development Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. Training programs are being held every now and then. The school wishes to attain equitable society with women equally empowered via dissemination of its courses.
