The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established in 1985, has been unceasingly strive to build a knowledgeable society by imparting inclusive education. School Of Inter-Disciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies (SOITS), established in 2007, has an aim of developing academic programs and promoting research in the contemporary relevant areas which could not be covered inside a single disciplinary framework and needed an inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach. Labor studies, Diversity and Inclusivity Studies, Sustainability studies and food security, Diaspora studies and Marginal communities and communities at risk are the key areas of the school which are paid heed to and activities of the school are prioritized accordingly keeping them in mind. SOITS render required space to encourage interdisciplinary academic studies and draw research on empirical, theoretical and practical methodologies being used in various disciplines. The school strives to create intellectual and academic collaborations with scholars belonging to discrete specialization fields.
