Overview

School Of Social Sciences (SOSS) is amongst the largest schools of studies at the IGNOU. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established in 1985, has been unceasingly strive to build a knowledgeable society by imparting inclusive education. SOSS offers academic programs in numerous disciplines, namely, Economics, Anthropology, Library and Information Science, Political Science, History, Psychology, Gandhi and Peace Studies, Public Administration, and Sociology. SOSS has consciously tried to allocate an imperative role to ICT tools in devising the learning programs. The distinctive features of the programs offered by SOS are that the basic programs in various disciplines at the under-graduate and post-graduate levels have been strengthened with foundation as well as application-oriented courses. Short-term and long-term courses are focused on vocational and professional needs. Programs and courses are created to meet the requirements of unconventional groups of the society and programs which comprises of areas of concern to the society have a social science perspective.
