Overview

School Of Social Work (SOSW), established in 2007, has an aim to provide quality education in the areas of family studies, social work and tribal studies. It offers many certificate, diploma and degree programs. SOSW became fully functional in January 2009 with the employment of its first director and other faculty and staff members. SOSW is the first school which is offering social work program in open and distance learning mode of education. There are many other firsts to its kitty as well. It is the first school of social work in India to take social work education to all the States and Union Territories in the country. Also, the first school to have developed high-quality Self-Instructional Material indigenously. The first school to be taking multimedia as a means of imparting social work teaching and training through its own (IGNOU’s) TV and radio channels, in both languages English and Hindi. The first school to have developed a course on history of social work in India called Professional Social Work: Indian Perspectives. The first school to be offering social work programs to in-service candidates in India. The first school involving large number of practitioners for field supervision.
