Overview

School Of Translation Studies and Training (SOTST), established in 2007, is operational from the year 2009. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established in 1985, has been unceasingly strive to build a knowledgeable society by imparting inclusive education. The priority areas of the School include academic, research and training programs in the field of translation which is relatively a new discipline in India. The SOTST unceasingly strives to integrate teaching and learning with research and training in the field of translation as a discipline which is both theory and application oriented. The SOTST works closely in the areas of tradition of translation, developing skill upgrading, indigenous knowledge and skill building in translation amongst Indian languages. It is making great efforts in developing translation theory of teaching to link Translation to communication of modern knowledge at grass root level and use of Technology (Machine Translation) in the field of translation. The School constantly organizes Training programs in different parts of the country.
