Overview

Established in 2008, Teerthanker Mahaveer University was formed under the Act of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The youth favours the University because of the advanced sciences and the shedload subjects in arts and languages. TMU is accredited by the UGC (University Grants Commission) and AICTE. Its situated barely 144km from New Delhi, on NH-24. TMU initiated several departments and colleges for Polytechnic, Dental, Para-Medical, Hospital, Medical, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Physical Education, Administration etc.

The agrarian sector dominates the Indian Economy in terms of its contribution to providing livelihood and employment. Post the green, white, yellow and blue revolutions, the sector has grown to consist 14% of the GDP and 10% of exports; it has been maintaining a growth rate of about 4% and around 65% of the country population is currently engaged in this sector. Since the advent of the 21st century and the country stride towards a global and liberal economy, agriculture in India has been able to realise farther horizons through technological and organisational innovations with relation to a diverse, corporate, commercialized and vertically integrated sphere that promotes the development of human capital.

With such changing dynamics of the Indian agrarian sector there is a dire need for technical expertise in the field, hence emerges the need for agriculture education that produces spirited professional with entrepreneurial skills and capabilities to spearhead development in the domains of IPR, WTO, GM seeds, biotechnology, nanotechnology, sustainable energy etc. Here is where the role of the College of Agricultural Sciences becomes crucial. The College has been offering B.Sc Agriculture (Hons.) since the academic year of 2014-2015.
