Overview

The Department of Kannada was established as a crucial part of the University of Mumbai in the year 1979. It is approved by UGC and is headed by Dr G.N. Upadhya. The institute considers both academic and research aspects of education as equally important. The teaching faculty of this Department is well-acclaimed for its modern approach towards teaching coupled with their keen involvement in Research activities. Continuous efforts are made to build a strong student-teacher relationship. The courses offered by the institution are M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D programmes in Kannada. Certificate and Diploma courses in Kannada are also conducted by the Department. Students' personal and academic cases are taken into due consideration and the needful is done. Close interaction with the Researchers, Creative Writers Research Institutions Departments at other Universities is constantly made at both individual and institutional levels.
