Overview

Department of Music, formerly known as The Music Centre was founded in 1969. It is approved by UGC and affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The objective of the music training and education imparted in the Department of Music is to make the student both, a musician and a performer, aware of the various concepts and issues involved. The teaching techniques and pattern are based on the age-old and time-tested "Guru Shishya Parampara". The faculty in the Department of Music consists of Readers and Lecturers in Vocal Music. The department also offers posts of Honorary Music Instructors to several leading and renowned performers. The department provides programs such as diploma course in Hindustani Classical Vocal/Light Vocal/Sitar /Tabla, M. Mus. Hindustani Classical Vocal and many more. The aim of the department is to produce good, intelligent and impressive musicians.
