Overview

K. J. Somaiya Centre for Buddhist Studies is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and is recognised by the Ministry of HRD and UGC. The principal objective of the Institute is to become one of the top leading institutions in the field of learning and research in Buddhist Studies in the areas of South and South-East Asia. The centre was established with the aim to encourage research activities and initiatives in the field of Buddhism and to also study the various dimensions of it, with the help of textual sources, analyses, comparative religious and philosophical mindsets and also historical studies. It is the main aim of the centre to conduct interdisciplinary and comprehensive researches on Indian or Indological studies, specifically in the area of Buddhist Studies. It also encourages cooperation with fellow researchers in the Buddhist studies field across the world, by the transfer of research information and study material.
