Overview

The Department of Distance Education, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth initiated in the year 1985 with just one undergraduate course, B.A. Social Sciences up until the year 2000. But today, the Department offers distance education degrees at all undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. All these courses are well-recognized and approved by Universal Grants Commission, AICTE and Department of Environmental Conservation. The idea behind the establishment of this Department was to reach the unreached section of the society and enable them to pursue higher education. The institute has adopted various tools and patterns to ensure the holistic development of students. The institution has made tremendous efforts over the years to build suitable patterns of education essential for making the distance learning suitable for students. Courses are taught using an inter-disciplinary approach and non-formal methods of higher education have also been introduced so as to meet the societal needs.
