Overview

Department of Education and Extension of Pune University was established in 1990 with a dual goal to provide higher learning and training to future teachers, and to provide facilities for blind students. The Education section of the Department conducts courses at MA, M.Phil, and Ph.D. levels, encouraging research. Dedicated NET/SET preparation is also carried out for the interested students. The Extension section of the Department includes an Advanced Technology Blind Students Learning Center, a highly specialized center that caters to the needs of blind students and empowering them to seek meaningful careers. Advanced computer systems with text reading capabilities and braille printing press enable blind students to learn effectively while professional counseling helps them select a suitable career. The Department of Education and Extension holds academic collaborations with Universities in Australia and Norway.
