International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), formerly known as International Institute for Population Studies was founded in 1956 by the Government of India, United Nations & Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. Since IIPS was the first institution that studies population concerns, it holds a unique position among all the regional centers. It is approved by Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and UGC. The institute endeavours to be a center of excellence on all population-related issues through high-quality education, teaching and research. It offers a wide variety of postgraduate and doctoral programs in the field of Population Studies. Their primary objective is to train people from India and other countries in demography and related fields, including demographic aspects of family planning. The institute offers courses such as M.Sc. Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Care and many more. The institute provides consultancy services and undertakes special research on population-related problems, significant for India and other nations in the ESCAP region.
